This past November, my father spent the last five days of his time in India with our Little Sisters. He was blessed to stay at both the Victory Home in Srikakulam and the Mercy Home in Paderu. It is only when we take time to live together and to share with one another, that we get to really ‘know’ one another. It has been said that proximity shapes your perspective – and how true that is. From a distance, things can appear very different from what they really are. But when you get up close and personal, you begin see things as they truly are. With each new visit, there is a growing and deepening appreciation for the loving and committed people God has entrusted with looking after our little sisters day by day. They are men and women who have a genuine desire to see little ones experience first hand, the love of Jesus through the lives of His followers.
Jesus said: “Let the little children come to Me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”
In a day when children are at such risk, it is refreshing to see people who genuinely love little children. Overseeing all aspects of the ministry of Little Sisters in India, is Pastor Philip Timoti and his dear wife Lydia.
Timoti’s right hand man, Harish, handles all the administration, documentation, reporting, practical logistics, ordering of materials, health care, excursions, and the like. He is lovely man, who is hoping one day to have a family of his own.
At the Mercy Home in Paderu, we are blessed to have a delightful couple, who cook, clean, and provide security for the girls by living on the property. Let me introduce you to Boaz and Ruth.
Lavanya, the former Caretaker for our Little Sisters at the Mercy Home was married last year. Her new life and role as a wife, has taken her a considerable distance from the home, so she is no longer able to be with us.
However, we have a new Caretaker that we are delighted to introduce to you. Her name is Vijaya Lakshmi.
Vijaya came with good experience in working with girls in a large hostel, she holds a B.Ed with a specialization in social work and English, she is good in clerical work, has a proficiency in computer skills, and most importantly she is passionate in her love for Christ and seeing young women defended and developed holistically.
